1.1 How do I apply to be a SuicideGirl?
You can just go to
http://www.suicidegirls.com/model
and apply there.
Please include three to five pictures that give an accurate impression of what you look like. Try to include at least one head shot and at least one body shot - a link to a social network profile (facebook, myspace, whatever) is always helpful!
1.2 What happens once you get my application? Am I a SuicideGirl if you write me back?
If your application is accepted, you will receive a login to a special applicant area of the site. At this point you are an applicant or hopeful. You are only a SuicideGirl once you have a set accepted to go up as the "Set of the Day".
Once you log in, you will need to send us
*two forms of id
*a model release form
*a photography release form
*a photoset
You will be able to choose if you would like to submit your photoset for Staff Review, Member Review or both when you send us your pictures.
Once all your paperwork and your set has been submitted, you will get an email about the status of your photoset.
You become a SuicideGirl when your photoset goes up as the "Set of the Day" or wins one our monthly prizes.
1.3 How long do I have to get all this stuff to you? What if I change my mind?
Your application does not expire - you can complete your application whenever you are ready.
If you are not interested in being a SuicideGirl, you do not have to complete the application process. We will keep your information on file if you should change your mind, but we will not contact you for anything.
1.4 I can't log in to my application, I forgot my password!
You can go to the login page here:
http://suicidegirls.com/models/
Your login/username is your email address, and you can click "Forgot Password" and it will generate a new one for you! If you do not receive a password, make sure to check your spam and junk mail folders. You should copy and paste it in exactly, and definitely save the email with it. You can't set your own password for the application area, only the randomly generated passwords are used.
If you forgot your password to your website membership, please go here.
1.5 Why can't I see other sets on the site or start a blog, etc.?
This is because the applicant area is separate from the site membership.
You can login and manage your model application here: http://suicidegirls.com/models/
This does not give you access to the membership features of the site, it only gives you the chance to submit the items we need to consider your set to become a SuicideGirl. Once you have a set chosen as "Set of the Day", you'll become a SuicideGirl and get a membership to the website where you can participate in all of the features.
If you want a membership now so you can browse groups and other sets, you can purchase one here: http://suicidegirls.com/join/
1.6 Who can see my application??
Your application is only visible to you and select members of staff and will not be shared. Any forms you submit are strictly confidential.
NONE OF OUR STAFF MEMBERS WILL EVER ASK YOU FOR YOUR LOGIN INFORMATION OR TO SEND NUDE PHOTOS TO THEIR EMAIL. Your entire application should be completed through your model application page and everything you upload there is confidential and will not be shared.
1.7 Who are the SG staff members?
You can find a list of all the staff members and all of the staff photographers on the about page.
2.8 What IDs do I need to send you? Why?
We must have proof of your age and identity in order for you to model for SG. You must be over 18 years old for legal reasons, absolutely no exceptions.
We need two of the following IDs. One of them must be a photo ID that shows your birthdate.
* A government-issued photo ID like your drivers license or passport.
* Your birth certificate
* Your social security card (U.S. citizens only)
* A school ID
* National insurance card
* Military ID
2.9 How can I get my IDs to you?
If you have access to a scanner you should scan both IDs as one file - you can place them face down next to each other on the scanner and send it as one file. Please label the scan ID.jpg and you may upload it in your application area to move on to the next step.
If you can take a clear and legible photo of your ID you may photograph your IDs. Please label the photo ID.jpg and upload it into the applicant area. Both IDs must be legible when printed out - if they are not clear enough, we may ask you to send a clearer picture.
If you need to mail us a photocopy, our address is:
Attn: Model Coordinator
5482 Wilshire Bl. #1925
Los Angeles, CA 90036
*IMPORTANT* If you upload your IDs one at a time, the second file replaces the first file and we will only have one ID on file and cannot review your set. You should submit BOTH IDs as either one file or in a .zip file so they both go through.
YOU MAY NOT FAX COPIES OF YOUR ID, THEY ARE NOT LEGIBLE. Your ID scan, photo or photocopy must be CLEAR and LEGIBLE.
3.10 What is a model release form? Why do I have to fill it out?
We need your consent to use the photos of you. You can download the model release here. All models must fill out a model release, even if you live outside of the U.S.
If you have any questions about this form, please do not hesitate to email us - you should go to your model page and submit your question through the help box there, and we will get back to you as soon as we can, usually within a few days.
3.11 How do I get a model release?
The Model Forms Package can be downloaded here. Inside are the FAQ, the model release, the photography release, and the W9
You can also download all the forms you'll need in a package on your model page. Check the right side of the page, at the top, under "Downloads".
You will need Acrobat Reader in order to view and print the forms, you can download a free copy here: www.acrobat.com.
The package is a zipped file, which you can use Stuffit or Winzip to decompress.
If you have problems opening the zip file, message us through the model help section and we will email the pdfs to you.
3.12 How do I get the forms to you?
1. Print the forms.
2. Fill out the form by hand, we cannot accept typed-in forms.
3. Scan the form and save it as a .pdf or .jpg.
4. Upload the form to your model application where it says "we need your model release form." Once you upload the form, the page will refresh and say "We have your model release, thank you!" If it does not turn pink and say we have received it, please try uploading it again.
3.13 How do I fill out the model release?
You will need to print out the model release and fill it out with the following information:
*Your Signature
*Your Printed Name
*Your Address (don't forget your zip code!)
*Your Date of Birth
*Your Phone Number
*Your Email Address
*Social Security number or Passport number - if you do not have either one of these, you can leave this field blank.
*SG Name is where you list your choices for a potential model name. You can fill it out with your first choice of SG name even if you have not sent in your set yet. Please see FAQ under choosing a name for more on this.
You can leave the two blank spots under "SG Services" ("By" and "Its") blank, those are for office use only.

3.14 I don't have a scanner!
If you aren't able to scan in your application items, here are a few ideas:
- Use a friend's scanner or go to a FedEx/Kinko's or office service type place to have them scanned in.
- If you have a digital camera, take high quality pics of your forms, make sure they're legible!
- You can mail the forms into us. Send to:
ATTN: Model Coordinator
5482 Wilshire Blvd #1925
Los Angeles, CA 90036.
Please include your full name and email address with the paperwork.
- You can fax the forms to us at 323-962-6999, but please don't send your ID copies this way, they won't be legible.
- If you're having issues uploading your forms, you can email them to us at modelcoordinator@suicidegirls.com.
If you choose to send us your forms non-digitally, we will be manually updating your application when we receive them, so it can take a bit longer for us to upload the forms for you. If you don't see that section in your application marked as complete within about three weeks, please submit a help request through your model page and we can let you know that we received them.
3.15 What is the photo release? Where do I get it, and how do I fill it out?
The photography release is a form you'll need to download from us and have your photographer fill out when they shoot your set.
It will need to filled out by whomever shot your set, even if it was a friend or yourself. The first page has information on your set, and the second page needs to have the "photographer" section filled out and signed.
If your set was shot by an SG staff photographer, you won't need to have a photo release filled out, we already have all their releases on file.
We do not need a photo release for your application pictures since your application is private and only accessible to you and SG staff.
The Model Forms Package can be downloaded here. Inside are the FAQ, the model release, the photography release, and the W9
The title on the top of the photography release form is "Intellectual Property Assignment".
We need a new photo release for each set you submit. You can have your photographer fill it out and scan it. Go to your application and in the box for the photo release, click UPDATE and upload the new file.
If your photographer would like to be paid, they should read our SG PHOTOGRAPHER FAQ for all the information they will need about shooting sets and payment.
4.16 What is a W9?
The W9 is a tax form that we are required by law to have you fill out. Even if you are not employed or have not paid taxes in the past, you need to fill out the W9 - we need it to pay you if your set is accepted! The W9 is for US citizens only. If you are not a US citizen, you do not need to send us a W9 form.
If your address in your model application is a U.S. address, a W9 will be required to continue with your application, if you don't put an address or are outside of the U.S., the W9 part will not show up on your application. If your ID shows you to be a U.S. citizen, we will require the W9 form from you before we can pay you.
If you are currently staying in the U.S., but are not a U.S. citizen, leave that section in your application blank, and please send a note through the model help box on your application page so we can make note.
4.17 Where do I get a W9?
The Model Forms Package can be downloaded here. Inside are the FAQ, the model release, the photography release, and the W9
You can also download all the forms you'll need in a package on your model page. Check the right side of the page, at the top, under "Downloads".
You will need Acrobat Reader in order to view and print the forms, you can download a free copy here: www.acrobat.com.
The package is a zipped file, which you can use Stuffit or Winzip to decompress.
4.18 How do I fill out the W9?
You will need to print out the W9 and fill it out before you send it back to us:
Fill out your full real name and address where your checks will be mailed.
You are an individual/sole proprietor, please disregard the fields that ask specifically for business name, they do not apply to you.
You'll be providing your Social Security Number and not a EIN.
Mark whether you're exempt or not, if you're unsure, read the instructions on the following pages of the W9. The full W9 form can be viewed or downloaded here.
Sign and date!
We don't need you to submit the last three pages of the W9, just the first page.
Check out the example below for which fields you will need to fill out and which you can leave blank:

5.19 What is a photoset?
A photoset is a series of 40-60 pictures of you, starting fully clothed and ending fully nude. A set should be taken in one session with the same outfit, theme and setting.
The set should start out clothed and end up fully nude; the outfit and setting should remain consistent throughout the entire set! Fully exposed breasts and bums are a must (no pasties or electrical tape, panties must come off). Nudity should begin in the first half of the set, which usually starts around photo #10 in a finished set. We prefer the nudity not be explicit or overly pornographic (no holding, touching or spreading), and definitely no penetration is allowed.
A finished set is between 40-60 pictures, but you should take lots of pictures and only send us the best photos. You should take out the pictures that you or the photographer hate from your sets but send us the ones that you think are pretty good. The set you send us should have about 40-60 images, definitely not more than 75 photos. Make sure you have enough variety in the pictures you send us - we don't need 10 pictures in the same pose to choose from. You cannot upload a set if it's under 35 photos.
Your images MUST be 2400 pixels on the longest side, otherwise we will not be able to use your set!
You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the photoshoot, please keep this in mind if you have just recently turned 18. NO EXCEPTIONS, EVER.
5.20 Do I have to get naked?
Yes, you do have to be fully nude. Fully exposed breasts and bums are required, but spread shots definitely are not.
The nudity should be tasteful, not graphic, but you do have to be fully nude. Think along the lines of cute, pin-up photography and not pornographic nudity. We will not approve sets with explicit, close-up vaginal shots, any erotic touching, and absolutely no penetration!
Your application never expires, so you are more than welcome to wait until you are fully comfortable to send us a set.
We will not approve explicit, close-up, spread shots, any holding or touching, and certainly no penetration, so PLEASE do not submit pictures like these!
5.21 What should my photoset be like?
Your set should be fun and creative, and showcase your physical beauty as well as your personality. Here are some general guidelines to follow:
*You must shoot with a digital camera. Shoot your photos at the largest quality your camera has available. MAKE SURE THE DATE & TIME STAMP IS TURNED OFF - we will not accept any sets with the date and time on them since we can't photoshop it out.
*You do not need to photoshop your pictures before you send them in, it will not affect whether or not we use your set. If you are really great with photoshop or your photographer wants to photoshop the set, please see section 10 about Working with Photographers for more information about photoshopping. If you are submitting your set photoshopped, you or your photographer should save the original files.
*Make sure that your make-up and hair are picture perfect. You shouldn't cake on the make-up and you don't need a formal updo, but a little bit of face powder and mascara plus freshly washed hair goes a long way.
*Check out Levee in "Ring Ring" to see a good example of minimal yet sexy makeup and hair.

*Lighting really is the most important step in getting good photo quality. Natural light is by far the easiest to work with - a room with a window should provide enough light during the day.
- If you shoot outside, it's best to shoot at sunrise or sunset, or on a cloudy day to eliminate weird shadows.
- If you are shooting indoors and there is not enough natural light, make sure you have multiple lights in your set up. A cheap solution to indoor lighting problems is to buy a few inexpensive shop lights from a hardware store and high watt bulbs.
*Check out Pilot in "Rag Doll" to see a good example of soft, even, flattering natural light.

*Backgrounds should either add to the set or be plain enough that it's not distracting. Messy bedrooms and bathrooms are not artistic or sexy, so clean up before you shoot. We are no longer accepting sets on solid color photo studio backdrops, so get creative and use another part of the studio instead.
*Check out Glitch in "POV Dream" to see a good example of a how to make a simple, clean location incredibly sexy and interesting.

*Include a variety of angles, close-ups, full body shots, and poses. Sets with one camera angle only can seem a bit stiff and distant, make sure to move the camera around! Please do not send us a ton of pictures in the same pose to choose from - move around, experiment with different poses and facial expressions, try to find what is flattering for your body type.
*Check out Radeo in "Heliotrope" to see a good example of a variety of angles, close ups, poses, etc.

*Get creative with your theme. We have tons of sets of girls on beds, girls on couches, etc, so try something else! Maybe you have a favorite book, video game, movie, comic book that you could base your set on, or maybe you have a friend that works at a bar or has a really cool apartment or house you could shoot in.
*Check out Rambo in "Chalk Talk" to see a good example of how she turned one of her interests into a really cute set.

*Practice your poses before you shoot your set! Seriously. Stand in front of a mirror and practice cute, pin up poses that flatter your body. For instance, arch your back as far as you can to lengthen your body instead of hunching over and shortening it. Practice your facial expressions, too - no one wants to see 40 pictures with the same dead eyes in every one, that's kind of creepy actually, so try to vary your expressions.
*Check out Katherine in "Sanctified" to see a good example of great pin up poses and a variety of facial expressions.

*Use available resources - you don't need to spend a ton of money to shoot a great set. Use what you have available, there is no need to go out and rent a crazy location or hire a makeup artist or hair stylist. If you don't have a location, ask around and see if one of your friends has some place you can shoot. More often than not, you can even shoot in your own house.
*Check out Arabella in "Pirate Girl" to see a good example of using what's available to shoot a creative, interesting set.

*Bare breasts and bums are required, but spread shots definitely are NOT. If you aren't comfortable showing your lady bits, don't! There are lots of girls on the site who choose to gracefully hide it in their sets, and we prefer classier, playful, pin-up nudity anyway. You can make an extremely sexy set without spread shots!
Check out Mel in "Sunset Over Londontown" for a great example of the level of nudity you must be comfortable with in your set.

*You can shoot your own set, you don't have to work with a professional photographer!! There are several girls on the site who shoot their own sets. You can either use the timer on your camera, or you can pick up a remote for around $10. If you don't have a tripod, you can set your camera on a table or stack of books, etc. If you are a member of the site, you can check out the self portraiture group for tons of great advice about shooting your own set.
*First sets must be in color, NO BLACK & WHITE SETS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR FIRST SETS. If black and white is crucial to the set theme, please contact us at photographycoordinator@suicidegirls.com to discuss it.
*Shooting a set should be a fun experience for you whether we accept it or not. Don't stress or rush through the process. Some of the SG's were turned down several times before they had a set accepted. It is the girls that learned from the experience and had fun with it that eventually ended up being accepted.
*Take a look at all the sets in the applicant area to get a good idea of what kinds of things we are looking for in a good photo set.
5.22 What kinds of things should I avoid in my photoset?
THINGS WE WILL NOT ACCEPT:
There are just some things that we are trying to get away from. It is not anything personal against photographers or models, and if you shoot a really super awesome amazing set that features one of these items we will definitely consider it - this is more of a list of things to try to avoid:
Too much makeup - Caked on foundation and spidery eyelashes are just not sexy - you're beautiful, don't hide behind a mask of makeup!
Seamless/studio backdrops - Sets on studio backdrops can be super boring, try shooting in a real life setting or a different part of the studio.
Wigs - A hot girl in a cheap wig is still a hot girl in a cheap wig, we prefer to see your natural self.
Hats and Sunglasses - They are great accessories and look super hot in a few pictures, but please take them off in at least half the set - we want to see your face! Also, no top hats, ever.
Old timey pin up - SG is modern day pin up, it is not really about old timey sensuality. Your set should be your modern take on how you feel most beautiful, not an ode to ye olde days of yore.
Sets that are too explicit - Fully exposed breasts and bums are required, but spread shots are certainly NOT. Please do not submit overly graphic sets. Your photos should be tasteful, pin-up nudity - not explicit.
Stripper shoes - In the same way the site is not about old timey sensuality, stripper shoes do not an SG make. Plus... ouch. Normal heels are just as hot, if not more so.
Childish themes - Sets with stuffed animals, children's toys, school girls, etc are kind of creepy to see on an adult site, and we try to stay away from sets with these kinds of props.
Blood/weapons - There are tons of sets on the site that have done this really well and are incredibly hard to top, so we ask that you stay away from blood (real or fake) or implied murder/suicide. Also, no swords or weapons unless you absolutely 100% know what you are doing with them.
Smearing mud/food/wax - Maybe super hot in real life, but it translates pretty poorly in photos and looks more gross than sexy.
Fairy/Angel/Bat Wings - Please just no. Sets with wings, antennas, halos, etc, just look cheesy.
5.23 How do I send you the pictures?
***NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT UPLOAD A PHOTOSET UNTIL YOU HAVE UPLOADED YOUR TWO FORMS OF ID AND YOUR MODEL RELEASE!!! We cannot review sets that do not have all the proper paperwork uploaded.
You should log-in to your model page and click on the "Manage Sets" tab to upload your set.

1. Choose a member name.
If you already have a membership on the site, please enter your username and password - this will link your member account and model account. If your set is approved for Member Review, a free year will be added onto your existing account.
If you do not have a membership on the site, you will need to create a username and password.
If you cannot get past the first section, it is very possible that a girl is using the name you want - you can check if a member or SG is using your name by going here:
http://suicidegirls.com/members/NAME
and replacing "name" with whatever name you are trying to use. If no member or SG is using the name and it still won't let you take it, it's probably bcause a member whose account has expired was using that name. You can always try using a combination of two names, like "SaraJane" or something like that.
Remember your username and password - if your set is accepted, this is what you will log-in to the main part of the site with!
2. Name your set and write a description.
You should put the name of the set in the Album Title box, and a little note about the set in the Album Description box. You can read more about set intros in Section 12 of the FAQ.
3. Uploading the pictures.
Your photos must be .jpg files (not JPEG, gif, bmp, png, none of that), and the entire set MUST be under 100mb. Your finished set should be between 40-60 photos - please no more than 70 photos per set! Make sure all your photos are rotated correctly. Your set will post to Member Review exactly like you uploaded it, so please include only the best photos! You cannot remove any photos once you have submitted them, so make sure you upload only photos you want reviewed!!!
There are two ways you can upload your pictures.
Option 1: You can upload the set as a .zip file.
The easiest way to upload the set is to send it as a .zip file. The photo wizard can only accept files up to 100 mb in size. If your .zip file is larger than 100mb, you will need to resize each individual picture to make the .zip file smaller, otherwise the set will not go through no matter how many times you try. Try resizing them so they are 1200 pixels on the longest side. If you submit 60-70 pictures that are around 1mb in size, it should go through no problem. Each picture must be at least 1200 pixels on the longest side - anything smaller than that and it is unlikely we will be able to make a set out of it.
- If you are on a Mac, you can right click (ctrl+click) on the folder and select "Make Archive of [folder name]" or "Compress [folder name]".
- If you are on a PC, you will need a program like WinZip to create your .zip file. To download applications that allow you to compress your files, please go to http://www.download.com and search for ".zip." Newer versions of Windows allow you to right-click the files/folder and zip everything up just like the Mac instructions. Please do not email for technical help.
-or-
Option 2: You can upload your pictures one at a time.
This way is a lot more tedious and there is a greater chance that your browser may freeze and not allow you to continue adding pictures, which means the set did not get submitted all the way and you will need to start over and upload it again. Sounds like a pain in the ass, huh? We always recommend a .zip file, its a lot faster and if your browser quits you can just reload and try again.
*NOTE* The file you are uploading is large and may take a few minutes to process completely before allowing you to move on to the next section. Once the uploader gets to 100% and shows the checkbox, do not stop, close, or refresh the browser at this point! Once the uploader has finished doing its thing, it will allow you to go to the next step, so just hang tight for a few minutes.
4. Choose if you would like to upload this set for ()Member Review, ()Staff Review, or ()Both, then click "Submit Set!"
After your set has finished uploading, it will say "100%" with a green check mark next to it. After you submit your set, a little box will pop up letting you know we received it and you should hear back soon.
If the little box does NOT pop up and say we received the set, then it did not go through and you should go back to your model page and try again.
Please see Sections 7 and 8 for more info about how the review process works for Member Review and Staff Review.
5.24 I'm having problems uploading my set!
I was uploading my set and the uploader quit on me, what do I do??
Just try again, we will remove any sets from the system that did not finish uploading all the way. It's okay if takes you a few times.
I uploaded a set and it showed up on my page as pending, but a few hours later it disappeared!! Where did it go??
Your set probably did not go through all the way - if your submission seemed to disappear, that means it did not upload correctly and that we've removed it so you can go in and try again.
I can't rearrange the pictures or change the album cover, halp!!!!!
We have had a few bug reports of this happening, so don't worry, just select the review option you would like and submit the set. Once your set has been reviewed, you can edit the set with no problem, so don't worry, we will never not accept a set because the pictures are out of order or you weren't able to save the album cover.
No matter what I try, my set is not going through!
Here are some things to look for if your set is not going through properly:
-Is my set a .zip file (not a .sit or .rar)?
-Is my set under 100mb?
-Are all of my images .jpgs?
If the answer to any of these is NO, then that would be why your set is not uploading. We cannot stress how important it is that your .zip file is under 100mb - that is the most common problem people are having! If you resize your images to 2400 pixels on the longest side, that should make them small enough to go through. You should not be submitting more than 70 pictures, either - 40-60 photos is more than enough to give us enough to work with if we are going to use the set.
Can I send you my set on CD?
No, unfortunately we cannot upload sets for you so you will need to keep trying to upload the set yourself. As long as you are following the instructions listed here, it should be working!
Will you photoshop my images before they're posted in Member Review?
No. Sets are posted in Member Review exactly how they were submitted.
If we are going to purchase a set, we have staff photoshoppers who can touch up the set before we put it on the site. However, if a set is submitted for Staff and Member Review and is not accepted for Staff Review, it will be posted in Member Review exactly as you submitted it. You can check out our photoshop FAQ that has all the specifications and info on photoshopping the sets:
PHOTOSHOP FAQ - CLICK HERE!
The majority of sets that are sent to us are not photoshopped before they are sent, and it certainly does not decrease your chances of having your set accepted.
My set was assigned to a photoshopper, does that mean it was accepted?
If we would like to try to use a set, we will send it to be photoshopped. When your set has been photoshopped and submitted for review again, you will get an e-mail letting you know the status. Photoshopping a set can take anywhere from 2 days to several weeks, depending on the backlog of the photoshopper.
I uploaded my set, like, forever ago and it's still pending. What the hell?
Check your e-mail! You most likely will have an e-mail from us asking you to send us your paperwork. Sometimes files are corrupt, sometimes they are too blurry, or maybe we only have one ID when we need two ... there are a number of reasons why we may need it, so if you get an email asking us for your paperwork, please send it in ASAP so we can review your set! On the contrary, please don't e-mail us asking if we have all of your stuff on file. If we need anything from you, we'll let you know exactly what it is and the best way to get it to us.
I'm trying to delete a couple images from my set, but it's not working!
Your set is posted exactly how you sent it in for review and you will not be able to remove any photos from it until it has been up for 90 days. After 90 days, you can click the big green EDIT button in the corner to remove individual photos or the whole set - for now,you can move them to the end of the set so that when people are clicking through they won't see them til the end and it doesn't look repetitive.
5.25 How long til I hear back about my set?
As long as we have both your government-issued IDs and current model release on file, the average wait is about 2-4 weeks to hear back about your set, but it can take up to 6 weeks depending on our backlog.
Please do not email us about the status of your set.You can log in to your model page and it will let you know the status of your set - once it has been reviewed, you will always get an email letting you know the next steps.
5.26 Will you photoshop my pictures before you put them up? Can I?
If we are going to use a set, we have staff photoshoppers who can touch up the set before we put it on the site. However, if the set is uploaded for member review, the set will be posted in member review exactly how it was uploaded, so if you would like to photoshop it beforehand you are welcome to. You can check out our PHOTOSHOP FAQ that has all the specifications and info on photoshopping the sets.
The majority of sets that are sent to us are not photoshopped before they are sent, and it certainly does not decrease your chances of having your set accepted.
5.27 I already have a member account, do I have to make a new Hopeful account to send a set?
When you send your set, the uploader will ask you if you have a member account - check the box for YES and enter your member name and member password. This will link your model account and member account, so any sets you submit will be posted to your member page and the free year will be added on to your current member account.
5.28 How do I get paid?
If your set is accepted as the Set of the Day and goes up on the front page, you will be paid $500 USD. You can be paid via check or paypal.
PAYMENT: CHECKS
This is the default method for payment - if you do not enter paypal info, you will be sent a check. Please allow about 5 weeks to receive your check - we usually mail them within one month of accepting the set. If it has been longer than 5 weeks since your set was accepted, please email invoices@suicidegirls.com and we can let you know when you should expect to receive your check.
We will not email you to confirm your address before we send your check, so please make sure everything is current so we can get it right the first time!
PAYMENT: PAYPAL
To change your payment method, you will need to log in to your model page. When you log in, click on the box that says EDIT in the upper right hand corner of the box with your info:

When the form comes up, at the bottom you can choose Check or Paypal. If you choose Paypal, you'll need to enter your address twice to make sure it's spelled right!

Click SAVE at the bottom, and your page should refresh and show your new payment option along with your paypal address! You must enter your OWN paypal address, you may not use anyone else's but your own to receive payment!

You will be paid via paypal at the same time we would put the check in the mail, so you should expect to receive payment within about four to five weeks of your set going up on the front page.
Please keep in mind that Paypal may charge a fee for you to receive your money! You should read over the Paypal transaction fees to check how much it will be - usually the fee is 3-5% of the total amount.
6.29 What happens if I submit my set for Member Review?
When you submit your set for Member Review, your set will be posted on the site in the Member Review section - if you are not yet a SuicideGirl, you will be given a one year free Hopeful account. Your set will be posted exactly as you uploaded it, so if you need to rotate your pictures so they are facing the right way, you should do that before you upload the set.
After you submit your set for MR, members and SGs will be able to comment on your set and it will be eligible for "Set of the Day" and our occasional monthly prizes.
Sets are chosen from this section that get really great feedback from SGs, photographers and members.
If your set is picked to go live on the front page as "Set of the Day" or a prize winner, you will become a SuicideGirl and both you and your photographer will be paid!
Before your set goes up on the site for Member Review, it will be reviewed to make sure it meets the minimum photographic requirements, so there may be a short wait between the time you upload a set and it is posted on your page.
6.30 What is the Member Review section?
You can see all the sets that are up for Member Review here.
Sets are chosen from this section to put on the front page as "Set of the Day" based on the feedback from our members, SuicideGirls and photographers. If a set is chosen from the Member Review section to go live as "Set of the Day", both the photographer and the model will be paid.
6.31 Where can I see the set?
The set will be featured in the member review section. It will also appear on your page under the "pics" tab with an icon that says either "Hopeful" or "SG".
Once your set is accepted for member review, it is added to a queue in the hopefuls section - this is so that 50 sets aren't posted at once. We space them out so each set gets an equal amount of time on the front page of that section.
To find out when your set will post, go to your pics page and click on the icon for the set. In the top left corner, it will say the set name, and below that it will show a date. That is the day your set will be posted in the member review section.
6.32 How long is my set eligible to win "Set of the Day" or one of the occasional set prizes?
Your set is eligible to win "Set of the Day" or any of the occasional monthly prizes for as long as it is up in the Hopefuls Pics section.
6.33 When I submit a set to Member Review can I delete it?
If the set is not chosen as "Set of the Day", it can be deleted after 90 days.
We require the set to be up for 90 days so that we can give the community a fair chance of picking it as a winner. Many girls feel discouraged when their sets aren't purchased immediately and we believe the system will take time to select the best of the best. If you haven't been paid in 90 days then you are free to remove the set from the site.
To remove your set, click on the set to view it - in the upper right corner, you'll see a big green button that says "EDIT" :

it will open up the photo wizard and you will have the option to delete as long as the set has been up for more than 90 days.

6.34 When do I get paid?
If your set is picked as "Set of the Day" from Member Review, you should expect to receive payment within 5 weeks from the date the set is featured on the front page. We pay $500 USD per set accepted and posted as "Set of the Day".
6.35 Who owns the photos? Why can you use my image if I'm not getting paid?
SuicideGirls only owns the photos if you are paid - for instance, if your set wins "Set of the Day" you are paid $500. You will never give up ownership of your likeness without being paid a minimum of $500.
However, if your set does not get chosen as "Set of the Day", you can keep the images up on your profile. SG just hosts them under our terms of service for you and we do not make any claims of ownership of these images.
6.36 How often can I submit new sets for Member Review?
You can submit new sets to the Member Review area as often as you like. However, you can only submit one set at a time through the photo wizard on your model page, so please wait until you hear back about the status of the first set before submitting another. If you have multiple sets in Member Review, they are all eligible to be chosen as a "Set of the Day" for as long as you choose to leave them in the Hopeful Pics section.
6.37 I don't like this picture in my set, can you take it down?
You may not remove photos from sets in Member Review until they have been up for 90 days. Please only submit images you want used on the site, as it is technically impossible to delete images before the set has been in member review for 90 days.
6.38 When do I find out if my set was picked to win "Set of the Day"?
If your set is picked from Member Review as "Set of the Day", you will become a SuicideGirl (if you are not one already) - your profile will say "SuicideGirl" instead of "Hopeful", and your posts on the site will have a pink background.
You will see two icons for your set on your page - one that says the number of comments, and one that says "QUEUED". You can click on the set that says "QUEUED" to find out the date it will go up on the front page. When your set goes up, the second icon for the set will disappear. You will not get an e-mail about your set being purchased, but you can expect a check within about 5 weeks from your set being posted on the front page.
There is not a set number of comments a set must have or a length of time it must be up to qualify for "Set of the Day". Some sets are picked after only a few days, and some sets are picked after several months, so there is no real set period of time you have to wait and no certain amount of comments that you must get. However, all the sets in the Member Review section are eligible to be picked at any point. You can read more about what we are looking for in section 9, "SuicideGirls and SuicideGirl Hopefuls."
7.39 What happens if I submit my set for Staff Review?
When you submit your set for staff review, the images are not accessible to anyone other than staff.
Staff will review the set:
If we are able to use your set for a holiday or special theme week, your set will be put in line to go up as the "Set of the Day" and you will be paid the $500.
If we are not able to use your set for a special occasion, you will be given the option to post your set on the site for Member Review in exchange for a one year membership to the site. If you post your set for MR, it is still eligible to be chosen as "Set of the Day" and any of our occasional prizes.
7.40 How long until I hear back? What happens after staff reviews my set?
As long as we have both your government-issued IDs and current model release on file, the average wait is about 2-4 weeks to hear back about your set. Please note that we generally do not purchase sets via Staff Review unless they are submitted for a specific holiday or special theme week.
You can log in to your model application and it will let you know the status of your set - once it has been reviewed, you will always get an e-mail letting you know the next steps.
7.41 What happens if my set is rejected via Staff Review?
If your set is not chosen for a holiday or special theme week, you can choose to then post your set for Member Review. If you submit your set for both Staff Review and Member Review, your set will be automatically posted for Member Review if it is not purchased via Staff Review.
We rarely purchase sets via Staff Review. Please keep this in mind when you are submitting your sets.
Once a set has been posted in Member Review, you may not submit it again for Staff Review.
7.42 When do I get paid?
If your set is accepted through Staff Review, you will receive an e-mail letting you know that your set was purchased. We mail checks within 30 days from this point so you should expect to receive payment within about 5 weeks from the day you receive the e-mail. We pay $500 USD per set accepted and posted on the front page.
7.43 How often can I submit new sets for Staff Review?
We ask that you only submit one set at a time for Staff Review. Once we have reviewed your set you will get an e-mail letting you know the next steps, so please wait until you have heard back from us before sending in a new set.
8.44 When do I become a SuicideGirl?
If your set is chosen as "Set of the Day" it will go up on the front page and you become a SuicideGirl. SuicideGirls post in pink on the boards and in groups.
8.45 What does it mean to be a Hopeful?
A Hopeful is any model on the site who is publishing pictures in the Member Review section but has not won "Set of the Day" yet.
8.46 How do you choose which sets to put up on the front page?
There is a lot of curiosity as to how we decide which sets from Member Review appear on the front page, here is the criteria we use:
Ratio of Loved It to Not For Me
Ratio of # comments to time in member review
Diversity of commenters
Quality and length of comments
Feedback from The Council
Feedback from the SG Photographers
Model activity on the site (blogs, comments, groups, etc.)
We don't just pick the sets with the highest number of comments, although often the sets with the highest number of comments are chosen because a high comment count often goes hand-in-hand with doing well in other criteria.
Sets are chosen first and foremost for their ability to showcase your personality. They should be sexy, funny, unique and most importantly, show the viewer what you are about.
The number of sets a girl has in Member Review can sometimes affect whether or not we buy a set. If a girl has multiple sets in Member Review, we will not always pick the set that has the most comments - we'll choose the set that we think is the best reflection of the girl.
8.47 What do you mean when you say "minimum photographic requirements"?
While we have created this Member Review avenue for models in the hopes of being more inclusive to a wider variety of different kinds of beauty, we will do an initial screening of images submitted to the Member Review area to ensure all photos in the Hopefuls section match the general style and format of what we think our audience is interested in. Unfortunately this means not all images and models will make it to the Member Review area, however you are free to submit new sets as often as you'd like.
8.48 I want to tell my friends about my set!!
Awesome!! You are welcome to post a link to your set in the SG Hopefuls group and in your blog, post about it on your MySpace/Facebook/Twitter, etc. or send an e-mail to your friends.
However on SuicideGirls, we ask that you do not send people messages, post comments on everyone's blog asking them to comment on your set, or start multiple threads all over the site about it. Thousands of people look at the Hopefuls Pics section every day, it is well publicized - everyone on your friends list automatically gets a notification in their news feed when you have a new set in Member Review, so there is no need to message your friends to alert them. Posting tons of links on SuicideGirls will annoy more people than its worth and negatively affect your set, and that would really suck, so just don't do it.
8.49 My friend wants to be an SG too! Can we both be in the set?
You should be the only one in your first set. Once you and your friend both have a set on the site in member review, then you can send in a set together.
Two girl sets must either be two hopefuls or two Suicidegirls - we cannot accept sets of a hopeful and an SG.
8.50 What's the deal with SG hook-ups, parties and events?
If you become a SuicideGirl, you will be notified of events in your area. You can choose to attend any events you like, however SG will not pay for any travel or accommodations unless specifically noted, and you are not required to attend any events if you choose not to.
As a SuicideGirl you will get free admission to any official SuicideGirls events you choose to attend. If you would like to perform at an event, you simply reply to the email we send out to all the SuicideGirls before a big event. If you choose to go to an unofficial member-organized hook-up in your area, you must be responsible for your own safety, and should bring a friend you trust with you. You are not required to participate in SG events and can choose to be unavailable if you wish.
If you want to be more involved with the site, you should join your regional group and check out events in your area. You can find your regional group by clicking LOCAL at the top of the page. Events in your area will be posted in your regional groups, and you can even start your own event!!
If you would like to have an SG night for the girls and members in your area, please contact rambo@suicidegirls.com with all the information about the night. You should also join the Local Nights group to get more information about setting up an SG event.
YOU MUST BE A SUICIDEGIRL AND HAVE STAFF APPROVAL TO USE THE SG NAME ON YOUR EVENT!
8.51 Can I model for other sites/projects?
With the new contract, we just ask that you do not model for competing sites during your time with SG. If you are currently on another site, we ask that you wait to apply until you are no longer modeling for them, and if you should choose to model for a competing site while you are modeling for SG, we would simply add you to the archive. You're welcome to submit a help request through your model page at any point if you have questions about a certain site.
We ask that you do not model for any sites that feature tattooed, pierced or otherwise alternative models that have a separate, paid-only members section. If you would choose to model for or have your own site like that during your time with SG, we would simply add you to the archive. It is certainly okay to have your own website, but while you are on SG we ask that you do not have a paid, members only section. Here are some examples of SGs who have modeling careers and personal websites outside of SG:
Amina - http://www.aminamunster.net
Sash - http://www.heartsash.com
Maxi - http://stilltanya.com/
Working with other photographers, for magazines or other projects is definitely OK - lots of SGs have successful modeling careers and have built a portfolio for themselves using sites like Model Mayhem.
8.52 Can I change my profile picture?
SUICIDEGIRLS:
If you want a new profile picture, you will need to upload one for approval - neither Missy or Rambo can change your picture for you, so please do not e-mail them about it. If you need help making a new profile picture, please see this thread in the SuicideGirls group - there are tons of girls who can help you crop and resize your pictures.
HOW TO:
To upload a new profile picture, click MY SG at the top of the page, and then click "Profile" under Manage My Stuff. You can upload up to three pictures - the second and third photos may be whatever you like, but the first one must be approved by Missy. When you upload a photo as your primary photo, the page will refresh but you will still see your old photo. Missy will review your new picture, and if she likes it, it will change. Missy approves profile pictures every 4-8 weeks, so it may be a while before yours shows up. Also, profile pictures are approved in batches, so if you notice a lot of girls with new pictures and yours did not change, your picture was probably not approved.
Your picture must be 235 pixels wide by 175 pixels tall. Crop the picture so that we can clearly see your face - usually head and shoulders in the picture looks the best, and no boobs please. Try to pick a flattering picture - this picture will be what people see when you post. Your picture does not have to be from a set, and you may upload a photo from an upcoming set if you'd like.
A list of things we will not approve in profile pictures:
*Poor photo quality
*Too far away
*Too close up (try to keep it head and shoulders, please!)
*Too blurry
*Squished or otherwise distorted photos
*Pictures where we cannot see your face (this includes sunglasses!)
*Black and white or strange photoshop filters
*Pictures with anyone else but you
*Boobies - please keep your profile picture PG!
*Upside down photos
Your main picture will not change right away - Missy needs to approve it first. You will not be notified if your picture is approved or rejected, so please do not e-mail Missy or Rambo about it - I promise Missy will get to it when she has time. There is a hot new profile pictures thread on the boards and the profile pic thread in the SG group that are usually updated when girls have new profile pictures. If your picture was not approved you should try uploading a new one.
HOPEFULS:
Click MY SG at the top of the page, and then click "Profile" under Manage My Stuff. You can upload up to three pictures to show up on your profile, and the first one will be the one that shows up when you post to the boards and in groups.
After you upload a new picture, it can take some time to change on the site, so don't freak out if it doesn't change right away. If it hasn't changed after 24 hours, then your picture was probably not sized correctly so you should check the dimensions and make sure it is 235 x 175 pixels.
Your profile picture can be of anything you want. If you become an SG, then you will need to follow the guidelines for SuicideGirl profile pictures, but you can use whatever you like for your profile picture while you are a Hopeful.
8.53 What is a set intro? Where do I put my set intro?
Set intros should tell the viewer a little something about the set. It could be something about how the theme is important to you, the mood you were trying to convey, or maybe lyrics to a song or a poem that inspired you. They don't have to be incredibly wordy, just a sentence or two will do it, but you're welcome to write as much as you like about the set.
IF YOUR SET IS POSTED IN MEMBER REVIEW:
Your album description will become your set intro if your set is accepted and goes up as the "Set of the Day". You should click the big green EDIT button in the upper right hand corner to put in a set intro.

Then you can fill it out and click "Save Changes" - this is where you can reorder the set and pick a preview image, so when you're done writing the intro, scroll down to continue!

IF YOUR SET WAS ACCEPTED THROUGH STAFF REVIEW:
When your set is unqueued on your page, you should have a little notepad and pencil icon on the bottom right hand corner, like this:

When you click on the icon, it will pop up another window where you can put in your photographer's name and url (member page, etc) and write a little something about the set, and you can upload an audio intro as well:

When you're done, click "submit" and the page will then say your changes have been saved and you are all done!! You don't need to let anyone know that you wrote your set intro - when we go to queue your set, the box will pop up with your intro in it. Please keep in mind if you uploaded an audio intro, it won't show that you uploaded a file when the page refreshes.
8.54 Can I change my SG Name?
Unfortunately it is not possible to change your name once you become a SuicideGirl, so make sure you like the name you choose!
If you are not yet a SuicideGirl and would like to change your preferred names, you can log in to your model application and click "update profile" and change your preferred model names.
If you are a Hopeful with a public profile on the site, you can go to your main Profile Page. In the upper right hand corner of your profile blurb there is a button that says 'EDIT' - click on it to change your alias and profile layout. If the name you want to change it to is taken, try a different spelling or add an underscore.
8.55 I want to use pictures from my set on another site, is that cool?
You may use any photos from a set in Member Review on sites like MySpace or Facebook, your portfolio, or on your personal website. If the set is accepted, the image must display the SG logo and copyright.
You may use any photos you'd like from a purchased set on sites like MySpace or Facebook, your portfolio, or on your personal website as long as the image has the SG logo and copyright on it.
Please make sure the photos you use on other sites agree with their terms of service - for instance, any photos you post on Facebook must have NO NUDITY, otherwise Facebook will take them down and possibly suspend your account.
8.56 How do I get it to say "Hopeful" under my name?
Anyone who wants to be a SuicideGirl is considered a Hopeful, but you must have a set in Member Review to get the Hopeful tag on your profile.
To remove the Hopeful tag, go to your Settings page - the option to turn it off will be near the bottom of the "Change Your Site Settings" list. If you do not see the "Remove Hopeful status" checkbox then you do not have the Hopeful status.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU REMOVE YOUR HOPEFUL TAG THERE IS NO WAY TO PUT IT BACK ON YOUR PROFILE SO BE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU WANT TO REMOVE IT BEFORE DOING SO.
8.57 I moved! Where do I change my address?? Do I need to tell someone?
It is extremely important that any time you change your mailing address, phone number, or e-mail address to please update it on your Model page- otherwise there may be problems sending your check, or you may miss out on a really cool opportunity in your area!
When you log-in here, you can click "edit" and update your contact info. Please fill it out as much as you can - the more info we have the better! Make sure you put your REAL NAME down, that is who the check will be made out to so please don't put a fake name.
We will not e-mail you to confirm your address before we send your check, so please make sure everything is current so we can get it right the first time! If your check is sent to the wrong address, it will be mailed back to us and we will have to charge a fee to reissue a check, so please make sure you update your address!
If you are a SuicideGirl and you live in the US, you will need to fill out a new W-9 when you move - otherwise, your tax forms will go to your old address when we send them out! After you've completed it, you can email a scanned copy to modelcoordinator@suicidegirls.com - if you don't have a scanner, check question 4.13 ("I don't have a scanner!") for all the other ways you can send us your updated W-9.
If you are a Hopeful and you live in the US, you can fill out a new W-9 form and upload it to your Model page - just click "UPDATE" and upload the new form.
8.58 My Member Review set never showed up on the front page!!
Not all Member Review sets will be featured on the front page - we are trying to feature blogs, articles, videos, basically all kinds of different content from around the site as well as the sets. However, this will NOT affect whether your set is bought or not - a good set will stand out no matter what, so if your set is not featured please do not take it personally!
To better your chances of your set being featured, you should make sure to write a good intro (something more captivating than "me on my couch, lol") and have an album cover that is PG-13 - no boobs or butts! Take a look at the large previews for the "Set of the Day" - there is never nudity in those, yet they are still sexy and captivating, so you should go for that.
9.59 Who are the SG Staff Photographers?
A list of out Staff Photographers can be found on this page: http://suicidegirls.com/about/. You may e-mail any of them in your area that you would like to work with, and they can let you know if they are able to set something up with you.
If there is one nearby, they should appear on your application page on the right side under "Looking for a Photographer?". If it's blank, it probably means we don't have a staff photographer close to you - we are always looking for photographers, but we might not have one in your area at this time.
SG PHOTOGRAPHER FAQ
9.60 What should I do if I can't work with a Staff Photographer?
If you have an amazing photographer you are interested in working with, please have them contact: photographycoordinator@suicidegirls.com to receive the proper paperwork and details.
Most girls will not have a professional photographer at their disposal, which is completely understandable, so you may use a trusted friend who knows their way around a camera.
You can also try finding a photographer on Model Mayhem, Facebook, or on the SG site (try the SG Photographer Hopefuls group!). This brings up some very simple, common sense things that you should all do to ensure your safety and comfort when working with new photographers.
1. Check references, and portfolio. If you do not like someones work or can not find any references for them, work with someone else. E-mail the person that you are interested in working with and let them know exactly what you are looking for in a photographer before meeting with them. Send a few of your favorite SG photos as examples of style. Figure out the theme that you want to convey in your set and have a clear-cut idea of what you want your set to reflect, make sure the photographer can carry this out. This is your set to share your personality with the site. Come prepared, practice posing and facial expressions in the mirror. A good photographer is very helpful in getting a set accepted but if you aren't prepared there is not a whole lot they can do.
2. Have an initial meeting in a public place. This way you can figure out if this person is going to creep you out, or if you will feel comfortable taking your clothes off in front of them. If you get a weird feeling ask someone else to shoot the set for you. If you are not comfortable with a photographer you will not look comfortable in your set and it will not come out well and will probably not be accepted no matter how talented the photographer is with the camera.
3. Bring a friend to your shoot. Safety first. Even if the person sits in the other room it is better to have someone that you know and trust around just in case.
4. Any asshat with a camera can claim to be a nude photographer, so double-check their model references and always trust your gut. We get so many creepy people applying to be official SG photographers everyday it boggles the mind. Everything from photographers claiming that a sexual relationship allows them to take better pics to guys who are just obsessed with feet. We do our best to ensure the professionalism of everyone that we work with. Anyone that we recommend directly will be completely legit, but that doesn't mean that all of the people volunteering to take pics in the Photographer Hopefuls group or the person you meet at a member gathering or on a model resource site is going to be. Use common sense and always err on the side of caution.
NO OFFICIAL SG PHOTOGRAPHER WILL EVER ADVERTISE OR E-MAIL YOU ASKING FOR NUDE PHOTOS. WE DO NOT HAVE RECRUITERS. These are internet pervs looking to see naked pics of you, please do not respond to them in any way.
We now have models and photographers from all over the world. It is hard for us to know about all of the creepy people or the talented ones out there. Use common sense and hopefully you will have a great experience. Always use your best judgment and work with people who you like and are comfortable with.
9.61 Can I shoot my own set or have a friend do it for me?
Totally! There are lots of girls on the site who shoot their own sets. Make sure to read over the FAQ section "Your model application: photoset" and look at the sample sets in your applicant area to get a good idea of what we are looking for in a set.
9.62 How much do I have to pay to get a set shot by a staff photographer?
Since it is not guaranteed your set will be accepted, we currently allow our staff photographers to ask for payment for their time. You can get in touch with the photographer you would like to work with and they can let you know their rates. This is their own rate for their time (shooting + prepping the set), this money does not go to SG, this is a private agreement between you and the photographer.
If your set is accepted, you and the staff photographers will each be paid $500 by SG, and the photographer may reimburse you the initial fee. It is up to you if you choose to pay them to shoot your set.
We ask that non-staff photographers do not charge girls to shoot sets, but in the end it is up to them whether or not they charge a fee. It is up to you to look at their work and decide if you want to pay, and if not, there are many that will not charge you! You do not have to pay for a photo set if you do not want to.
9.63 Who owns the pictures if my set is not accepted?
The photographer owns the photos if the set is not accepted.
9.64 My photographer has the set and wants to photoshop it. Where do I get the logos for the set??
You can get the logos, templates, fonts, and all the info you will need about photoshopping sets from the Photoshop FAQ.
9.65 My photographer wants to be paid, what do they have to do? How do i give them credit for shooting my set?
Your photographer can be paid if your set is purchased and goes up on the front page as the "Set of the Day". You should have your photographer check out the Photographer FAQ for all the info and paperwork they will need about shooting for the site and who they will need to contact in order to be paid.
If your set is Member Review, you can put their name and a link to their member page or photography website, Facebook, or flickr right in the intro. If the set is purchased, we can properly credit them as the photographer when the set hits the front page.
10.66 What information should I not reveal on the site, in my journal or on the boards?
Please do not reveal, under any circumstances, any personal information that could facilitate members locating you or your real name. Do not give away your phone number, real full name, address, neighborhood, favorite hang outs, school or workplace. We ask the girls to not disclose any information about where SuicideGirls is located, the people who work here or any of the other SuicideGirls. Try to keep a level of mystery about your personal life and use your best judgment.
10.67 Some member is being an asshole to me, what should I do?
If any member is seriously harming your experience on the site making your experience unbearable, you may flag a particular comment by clicking the little red flag in the upper right hand corner of the post or message. This will pop up a window where you can enter a detailed description of the problem and links to any offending comments so staff can review the problem and, if appropriate, ban the member from the site.
If a member is a little annoying please just use the ignore feature on the site and avoid them. You can go to their profile and click "Ignore Member", or type in this url:
http://suicidegirls.com/members/MEMBERNAME/ignore/
When you have someone on ignore, they can still read your blogs, but they will not be able to post comments on them or send you any messages, and their comments in groups and on the boards will be under spoilers.
10.68 Can I accept cash or gifts from members? Can I ask for them?
You may not accept any cash from members. You may not solicit members for money, may not request money or gifts from them, and may not plead for donations of any sort on the site. Any violation of this rule, no matter how minor, will lead to the immediate removal of you from the site.
You may post the link to your wishlist in your profile and if members are moved to then they may purchase presents from it but you may not mention your wishlist in every journal entry and beg for presents.
10.69 I hear SuicideGirls get recognized in public a lot, will this happen to me?
It might. Some SuicideGirls have told us they get recognized and approached in public quite often, others never have. If you cherish your privacy this is probably not the best place for you to model.
11.70 If my employer / family / friend finds out, will you take down my pictures?
No. You may ask for your profile and pictures to be archived at any time, which removes them from high traffic areas of the site, but they will remain accessible to members. If you are frightened of someone finding out, please do not apply to be a SuicideGirl. It's hard to undo being naked on the internet.
If you are a Hopeful, you can go in to your settings (http://suicidegirls.com/settings) and click "I want to be anonymous" - this way, anyone who goes to your page will not be able to see your profile, your pictures, or anything about you, it will just redirect them back to the main page. To remove your set, click on the set to view it - in the upper right corner, you'll see a big green button that says "EDIT" - when you click the link, you will have the option to delete as long as the set has been up for more than 90 days.
11.71 I'm bigger. I'm not white. Will you accept me as a SuicideGirl?
We do not discriminate based on age, weight, race, or any other quality that makes you unique and beautiful and we are currently looking for a more diverse group of girls to join our ranks, so please apply!
11.72 Who can see my model application page?
The model applicant area is visible to SG staff only. The public cannot access any of your personal information, photos, IDs, or forms. We keep all of your information safely stored and do not share it with any other companies.
11.73 Who do I contact about different things?
If you need technical support or membership help for the site, please fill out a help request form.
If you have any questions related to your experience as a SuicideGirl, you should go to your Model page and submit your question through the help box and we will get back to you as soon as we can (usually within a few days).
If you need to reach any other staff, check the About page. Please check the site FAQ for help before e-mailing anyone. The Model Coordinator will be your primary contact during your time as a model.
11.74 What kind of names can I choose for my SuicideGirls name?
You should come up with a list of about 5 names that you would like to go by for your SG name. You can check if a member or SG is using the name you want by going here:
http://suicidegirls.com/members/NAME
and replacing "name" with whatever name you are trying to use. If the name you want is taken, you can try using a combination of two names, like "SaraJane" or something like that. Please keep in mind that because of the high volume of members and girls on the site, not every name is going to be available, so you should come up with at least 5 names that you like.
Remember that we are not AOL, this is not a screen name - names that are too outrageous (like CherryZombieKiller or PrincessLolita) will not be accepted. This is an actual name that people will associate you with!!
Use English letters only. Do not use non-English characters, numbers, spaces, hyphens (-), underscores (_), or any other symbols like ^, *, ~, ^. Your name should be capitalised, e.g. Fractal, Wendy, King, etc.
WRONG: Mary Ann (space)
RIGHT: MaryAnn
WRONG: ~Bunny~ (use of ~)
RIGHT: Bunny
WRONG: michelle (not capitalized)
RIGHT: Michelle
WRONG: FaerieGlitterCat (too abstract)
RIGHT: Glitter, or Faerie, or Cat
WRONG: Schzmyyfhqwhgads (too hard to spell and pronounce)
RIGHT: Scythe
If you are having difficulty coming up with a name, you should check out http://www.babynames.com.
You will not have an official SG name until your set is purchased, so you should put your first choice for a name on your model release form. If you have a member account, you should have it be your first choice of name - if that name is not available but is not in use by an SG yet, you can try adding an underscore ( _ ) and we will do the best we can to give you your first choice of name. If the name you want is already in use, we will contact you for a list of new names.
11.75 Can I use pictures from my set for my portfolio?
If your set is purchased and featured as a "Set of the Day", you may use any non-nude photos from it in your portfolio, on Facebook, MySpace, etc. as long as they display the SG logo and copyright.
If your set is submitted for Member Review or is accepted for Member Review, you may post pictures from the set wherever you'd like - your blog, the Hopefuls group, Myspace, Facebook, etc.
11.76 I don't want to be a SuicideGirl anymore!
IF YOU ARE A SUICIDEGIRL:
If you no longer want to be a SuicideGirl, you should email missy@suicidegirls.com and let her know why you would like to be archived. PLEASE DELETE ANY MEMBER REVIEW, PERSONAL & ATTACHMENT ALBUMS YOU WANT REMOVED BEFORE REQUESTING TO BE ARCHIVED! SG cannot remove any albums from your page after your profile has been archived. If you choose to be archived, any purchased sets or Member Review sets you do not delete will remain public but your blogs and profile would be private. Your profile will be moved to the archive, a far less trafficked area of the site.
ANY IMAGES YOU SOLD US WILL REMAIN UP ON THE SITE - we will not remove your profile or any sets that have been accepted as the "Set of the Day" for any reason. You cannot buy sets back. It has never been our policy to remove any sets or profiles.
IF YOU ARE A HOPEFUL:
You can go in to your Settings page and click "I want to be anonymous" - this way, anyone who goes to your page will not be able to see your profile, your pictures, or anything about you, it will just redirect them back to the main page.
To remove your sets, click on the set to view it - in the upper right corner, you'll see a big green button that says "EDIT" - when you click the link, you will have the option to delete as long as the set has been up for more than 90 days.
IF YOU ARE AN APPLICANT:
If you are not interested in being a SuicideGirl anymore and have not sent us your set yet, you do not have to complete the application process. We will keep your information on file if you should change your mind, but we will not contact you for anything. Any information you submit is completely confidential.
12.77 How do I become a SuicideGirl?
When a model submits a set to the site she chooses to either submit it to ()Member Review, ()Staff Review or ()Both.
The set is then verified by our model coordinator to ensure model age has been documented and that it meets our minimum photographic requirements.
It if it is submitted for Member Review, it is queued to be posted in the Member Review area of the site and the model is given a free "Hopeful" account if she is not already a SuicideGirl.
If it is submitted for ()Staff Review, it is reviewed by staff and either accepted into the staff queue or rejected.
If it is submitted as ()Both, it will first be reviewed by staff and either accepted into the staff queue or passed into the MR area.
Everyday we publish at least one set from Staff or Member Review to publish on the front page as "Set of the Day". When your set is published on the front page you are paid $500.
A Hopeful becomes a SuicideGirl when she wins "Set of the Day".
